FLAGSHIP DETROIT MISSION STATEMENT
The Flagship Detroit Foundation is dedicated to the preservation of the legacy of the DC-3. The goal of the Foundation is to continue to maintain and operate the Flagship Detroit as a flying tribute to the airplane that made passenger air travel a viable form of public transportation and to honor the airline employees and all those in the airline industry, past and present, who have made air travel the safest form of transportation in the world. The Foundation seeks to educate all generations, young and old, about the development of early airline travel and the important part that the Douglas DC-3 played during those early years. To accomplish this mission, the Flagship Detroit travels to air shows and special aviation events throughout the United States.
