The Flagship Detroit Foundation is dedicated to the preservation of the legacy of the DC-3. The goal of the Foundation is to continue to maintain and operate the Flagship Detroit as a flying tribute to the airplane that made passenger air travel a viable form of public transportation and to honor the airline employees and all those in the airline industry, past and present, who have made air travel the safest form of transportation in the world. To accomplish this mission, The Flagship Detroit travels to air shows and special aviation events throughout the United States. To keep our mission alive, we need your help. The operating costs directly related to flying the Detroit is about $1,400 per flight hour. To keep costs at this level, much of the work is accomplished with volunteer labor.
